Niagara Falls Tour with Toddlers
Me and Laila experienced Niagara Falls (the U.S. side) together for the first time when she was 2 years old. I had just recovered from a 24-hour bout with food poisoning the day before we flew out so I wanted to see the sights in Niagara Falls, but at a leisurely pace. We went in October right before the real cold hit the area, and after the majority of tourists kept the area crowded. I found a tour through the hotel with Gray Line tours. It was an all day tour that used a charter bus to take us to each stop with the option to get off and sightsee or stay on and rest.
On the first stop we were able to take a ride on Maid of the Mist where you are able to get up and close with the falls. You have the option to go to the upper deck of the tour boat and get completely soaked from the massive falls or stay on the lower deck and experience a strong mist. Since I was recovering and had a two year old in tow, I obviously chose the lower deck LOL. No worries about getting your clothes wet, before you board the boat you are given a branded poncho to protect you from the water.
Next stop was Cave of the Winds positioned us behind Bridal Veil Falls. According to our tour guide every year the set of huge wooden steps is taken down and rebuilt to ensure safety for the visitors. If you’re up to it, you can climb to the top of the stairs to experience hurricane type elements as you wish. We stayed towards the lower steps and we were still able to witness the most beautiful back drop of a huge waterfall surrounded by a rainbow.
The next and final stop for me and Laila was to view Niagara Gorge from the Prospect Point Observation Tower. It’s really hard to describe how beautiful Niagara Falls is in general.
I’m so glad we took the time to go on this tour. We were able to see a few really beautiful areas without the hassle of driving and figuring out tickets for ourselves and after we saw what we wanted we decided to stay on the bus the rest of the tour and sleep safely. I was proud of us for conquering this trip even though mama bear wasn’t 100%!
